Musings on Doin’ Your Thing…

Pick a a trick and play with it – use a climb or an invert.  Many people now sort of throw up their hands and think, “it’s all been done already – how could I possibly come up with a new climb?” and then you see Josiah Grant (aka BadAzz) create the “TwistOff” climb (part invert/part climb).  Also, do not sell yourself short just because you think you are not at an advanced level.

The thing is, we all have a lot more creativity in us than we acknowledge.  While you may not be able to think yourself through a variation on a standard move or trick, take this same idea into your freestyle practice and stop trying to be so perfect or trying to do it exactly like your favorite pole idol.  You may be surprised at what flows out from you that becomes a new favorite in the pole community!
